Mind Palace Palace Poetry: The Workshop

Resurrected is a two-day, in-person workshop. The first class will be dedicated to writing exercises, sharing, opening up the mind, and getting comfortable within our group. The second class will be a workshop where poems will be submitted ahead of time and discussed as a group. Each poet will have 10 minutes to workshop and will have the option to schedule a one-on-one with Carson about their work.
This event will take place in the cabana.
Creep Mic

I’m a creep! I’m a weirdooooo… I DO belong here! A comedy open mic for anybody who’s ever been described as slightly off-putting.
Every Sunday at 3pm. 3 minutes for standup, 4 for characters, and 5 for everybody if Mark Duplass shows up. One drink minimum to perform.

The Open Mic at Pete’s has been running for almost 25 years and has provided a springboard for many a New York performer, now booking gigs around the city and beyond. Join host Bruce Martin in Pete’s intimate music room for a lively night of performances.

Aimee Bayles & The Kicking Horse

Aimee Bayles makes soulful, vocally-driven music influenced by an upbringing in southern church music, her training as an opera singer, and learning folk guitar from her pastor father. Inflected with inspiration from Patty Griffin, Gillian Welch, Neil Young, Norah Jones, Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss, she performs regularly throughout New York City. Listen to “February”.
Phil Pickens

Lyric-driven, roots-leaning indie rock singer-songwriter whose work balances intimacy with open road. Raised outside Atlanta and now based in New York City, Pickens writes with a clear sense of place, blending poetic storytelling with warm Americana textures. His songs explore risk, memory, faith, and the quiet resolve it takes to move forward when nothing feels certain. Listen to “So Many Nights”.
Jim Keller

Jim Keller found fame after launching Tommy Tutone in the late 1970s. Despite their meteoric rise, the band was short-lived, and Keller soon found himself in the proverbial wilderness, struggling to make ends meet until he talked his way into a publishing job with famed composer Philip Glass. With a voice aged by time, and wry lyrics that examine adulthood in all its emotional complexity, Keller has the sound of someone who could have been Tom Petty’s therapist. Silent Writing Happy Hour

Taking inspiration from the infinite canon of literature past and present, we present weekly short readings, inspiring 30-minute exercises, offering writers the space and direction to write silently and hone their skills. Writers may share their writing, as the spirit and time dictates. The last portion of the evening is devoted to self-directed work on whatever project you have that merits such.

Jackson Lynch

Born in Ireland, Jackson Lynch moved to New York City’s East Village when he was young, eventually becoming a vital part of the scene as a solo performer and as part of his band Jackson and the Janks. Lynch plays originals, traditional folk, blues, and gospel in his own distinctive style and arrangements. Listen to All By My Ownsome.

NYC’s finest trivia beckons. Got the brains? Bring your friends and wrack your noodles with six rounds of clever, fun, HARD trivia. The most experienced trivia hosts in the city will test your mental mettle in areas of General Knowledge, Music, Top Tens, and Visual Identification. First Prize is a $75 bar tab, Second Prize is a $40 bar tab and Third Prize is a $15 bar tab. But the real prize (besides bragging rights for those who place, and a berth in the twice yearly finals) is the time honored social scene of the Quizz-Off crowd. Give it a try smart guy!
